Significant responsibilities for the Christodoulides Government
With the ongoing genocidal slaughter of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and following the recent developments in our region where the State of Israel has dangerously escalated the situation, there is heightened activity at all ports and airports of the Republic of Cyprus. The evacuation of tourists from Cyprus and the broader Middle East is underway, with military and spy planes and ships coming and going, as well as 200 American marines landing and being stationed on the island.
It is worth reminding that last Friday, the White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby stated that “we need to ensure we have the necessary forces and capabilities in the region” to “defend ourselves, our troops, our facilities – but also our allies and partners, like Israel.”
The Christodoulides Government, by yielding land, air, and water to the murderous U.S. army with the ultimate goal of elevating the role of the Cypriot bourgeois class in the region, deepens Cyprus’ involvement in NATO plans, increases tension that may lead to a generalized war, and makes our people a target for retaliation.
We call on the Cyprus Government to immediately take a stand on the deeper involvement of our country in the NATO plans in the region.
We demand the disengagement of our country from the slaughter in Palestine and the imperialist interventions, as well as the closure of all bases of death and the withdrawal of all foreign troops.
